Question: oil changes

how often do i need to change oil

Depends on a number of factors including how you use the vehicle and what type of oil you are using.

If using conventional oil it's 3,000 miles.
If using a conventional or synthetic blend it's 5,000 miles.
If using a full synthetic it's 10,000 miles.
If using an extended service full synthetic it's 15,000 miles.

If you are a daily driver like 99% of people who doesn't do a lot of towing or drive through constant dusty environments (like a construction site or Iraq, not "the country") then these numbers should work. Otherwise the interval is much more often.

You can tell if you need to change your oil early when it turns black on your dipstick. New oil is almost clear when viewed on the dipstick, as it wears it turns black.
